Our Heritage

Serving Authentic Quality Since 1978

From a small local storefront in Pune to a trusted regional name in artisanal papads and rich spices, our family business prioritizes flavor and trust above all.

The Beginning

A Humble Store with Big Dreams

Munshi Kirana was founded by Shri. Munshi Lal in 1978 with a clear goal: to provide local households with access to pure, unadulterated spices and traditional pantry stables. He believed that groceries were not just products, but the foundation of family health and festive memories.

Over the last four decades, we have remained true to that vision. As we expanded our catalog to include specialty sweets like Sheer Khurma mixes and beverages like Zingat, we refused to compromise. We refuse to use cheap fillers, artificial colorings, or chemical preservation.

Today, the second generation of the Munshi family continues this legacy, merging traditional grinding techniques with modern hygiene standards to serve the best of Indian cuisine.

Sourcing & Community

How We Do Things Differently

We believe business should benefit everyone — from the farmers who grow the crops to the artisans who pack them.

👵

Women Cooperative Empowerment

Our Munshi Papad and Chandan Papad are entirely hand-rolled by local women's cooperatives. By choosing our papads, you directly support rural livelihoods, providing women with financial independence and fair wages.

🌱

Varun Agro Farm-Direct Partnering

Through our collaboration with Varun Agro, we bypass industrial wholesalers. We source pulses, whole grains, and raw spices directly from farms in Maharashtra, ensuring the crop is freshly harvested, cleaned, and fairly traded.

☀️

Traditional Solar Drying

Unlike mass-production factories that dry papads in electric heat chambers (which ruins the dal texture), our papads are solar-dried in custom, clean greenhouse structures. This locks in the natural, authentic earthy crunch.
